DC Gals Take on DC is a welcoming, inclusive community for women in their 20s and 30s who are looking to make real connections and lasting friendships in Washington, D.C.
Whether you’ve just moved to the city or you’re a local looking to expand your circle, our group makes it easier (and more fun) to meet like-minded women. We host a wide variety of events - from brunches and happy hours to book clubs, fitness classes, seasonal outings, and more. Each meetup is designed to help you feel comfortable, engaged, and part of something meaningful.
We know that making friends as an adult can be hard. That’s why we’ve created a judgment-free space where cliques are out, kindness is in, and everyone is encouraged to show up exactly as they are. No pressure - just good vibes, shared laughs, and the chance to explore D.C. alongside a supportive group of women.

Our Story
DC Gals Take on DC started with one girl, one idea, and one big city.
In May 2024, Carly, our founder, moved back home to D.C. after graduating from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Like so many women in their 20s, she quickly realized how challenging it can be to meet new people and build meaningful friendships post-college. Missing the easy social connections of campus life, she decided to create what she couldn’t find: a space for women like her to connect, explore, and feel less alone in the city.
So, DC Gals Take on DC was born in December 2024. What began as a simple idea - meetups for brunch, hot girl walks, and hangouts - has grown into a fast-growing community where friendships are formed and local recommendations are shared. Whether you're looking for a new workout class, a great place for coffee, or just someone to join you for a spontaneous Saturday plan, this group was made with you in mind.
Carly started DC Gals Take on DC as its only member, and it has since blossomed into a go-to space for women across the city to come together, support one another, and have fun. It’s more than just a social group—it’s a reminder that you're never truly alone in D.C. when you’ve got a group of gals ready to take it on with you.
